Malware-schrijvers misbruiken Dalai Lama

Sophos meldt dat er een nieuwe Trojan in omloop is die inhaakt op wat er op dit moment gebeurt in Myanmar. De malware is vermomd als een steunbetuiging van de Dalai Lama.

In de e-mail staat het volgende te lezen:

Dear Friends & Colleagues, Please find enclosed a massage from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in support of the recent pro-democracy demonstrations taking place in Burma. This is for your information and can be distributed as you see fit.

Bijgevoegd is een besmet Word-document (hhdl burma_001.doc), dat tot doel heeft de pc te besmetten met Troj/Agent-GCU. Wat het risico op besmetting verhoogt, is dat de malwareschrijvers een link hebben bijgevoegd van de officiële site van de Dalai Lama - waardoor het document te vertrouwen lijkt.
