Eind vorig jaar introduceerde Microsoft 'Games for Windows', een soort kwaliteitslabel voor games. Titels die het label mogen dragen zijn bijvoorbeeld niet alleen door de uitgever van het spel getest, maar ook door Windows. Daarnaast kunnen deze games zowel onder XP als onder Vista gespeeld worden. Op de E3 kondigde Microsoft maar liefst 29 nieuwe games in deze reeks aan.
De games komen van grote publishers als Activision Inc., Bethesda Softworks en Midway Home Entertainment Inc. Onder de nieuwe titels zijn de langverwachte releases Crysis, Hellgate: London, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures en World in Conflict.
